Our History
BrainTrust Corporation (BTC) was founded by Mr. Brian Skutt, in 2001 in response to 9/11. BTC initially offered "first responder" services in the area of emergency communications. The business expanded to include other RF engineering aspects including site surveys and VHF/microwave/millimeter wave systems engineering, design, and deployment.
In 2004, BTC expanded further to include business consulting and technology transfer, primarily in conjunction with the Howard County, MD Neo-Tech Center, and moved to our current location in Mt. Airy, MD.
In 2007, BTC added Cybersecurity Engineering and Policy Consultation Services, and partnered with SAFEOperations, Inc., and Applied Micro Design, Inc (AMDI)—now Patriot Technologies in Frederick, MD.
In 2008, BTC began to provide Business Development, Capture and End-to-End Proposal Services including Technical/SME, Management, Cost, and Strategy aspects with a specialty in Orals and major presentation content development and coaching.
Since 2014, BTC has provided DoD Marketing and Technical consulting to Inky. Inky’s Phish Fence® product is the industry leader in email anti-phishing protection
Since 2017, BTC supports the Blackdragon Community of Proposal Experts—with a new and effective group sourcing paradigm that WINS.
BTC gives back to the Community through charitable and philanthropic activities.
